Dr. Gerry’s Top 7 Health Hacks From a 62 Year Old TriAthlete.

Meet Dr. Gerry Farris. He has been instrumental in developing the proprietary blends that make FLIP My Life superfood formulas so effective and unique. He solved the bloat issue you may get with other supplements and worked closely with our team on creating formulas with a greater synergy between ingredients for better absorption and results. As an emergency room physician, anti-aging specialist, and a triathlete as well as daily flipping his own life for performance and longevity, he’s come up with his 7 non-nonsense hacks for staying mobile, strong and healthy at 62.

Remember, we aren’t all triathletes — small steps every day in the direction of progress and the right mindset all add up to major transformation. It’s why we combine the need for optimal fuel in your body with our free, ongoing FLIP My Life mindset and work out coaching, health tips and webinars to support you on your journey. We understand that if your mind isn’t in the right place, your body may not be either. We have felt the pain of aging joints and inflammation and the frustration of looking in the mirror and not recognizing the body staring back. We have been there. Each of us at Flip My Life is on this journey with you. We know what menopause belly feels like. We know the effects of poor sleep and low energy. We feel the pain of limited mobility and gut issues and unexplained weight gain. We know walking 10,000 steps can feel like a marathon. And trust us, we have felt the frustration of cognition issues like brain fog and memory. This is what Flip My Life was made for.

Do what you can where you are and know we are on this path with you. Keep your eyes forward on what is possible in your future instead of reflecting on your body from 10 years ago and see what resonates with Dr. Gerry’s health hacks below. We suggest taking one step outside of your comfort zone, get comfortable with that and then take one more step. Your comfort zone never shrinks back to where it was. A good plan is to start with adding our Flip 7 to elevate your nutrition. When you see the effects that has, you’ll be inspired to take more action. The most important thing is that you enjoy your flipping journey.

Dr. Gerry’s Top 7 Health Hacks From a 62 Year Old TriAthlete.

  1. Learn how to eat healthy and adjust when you eat: Educate yourself about the foods you choose to put in your body. Dr. Gerry suggests avoiding gluten, most dairy, sugar and processed foods as a general rule. In his practice, he has found patients over 40 do very well on a plant based diet with protein. One of the best hacks for health and longevity is adopting a practice of intermittent fasting (IF) or time restricted eating (TRE). Sixteen hours of fasting and 8 hours of feeding done 2 days per week is what he ascribes to. And don’t forget to eat the Rainbow 🌈 ! Lots of colorful fruits and vegetables.
  2. Exercise! What he is talking about here is movement. Walking daily. Resistance training, cardio, yoga, pilates etc. Recent clinical studies have shown just 12 minutes of daily exercise can prolong life and prevent disease. The goal is 30 minutes a day exercising at least 5 days per week. As we get older, it is critical to work on mobility and flexibility.
  3. Supplementation. This is taking vitamins and minerals to support health and metabolism. As a country, we currently have a diet in calorie excess but nutritional deficiency. This was the impetus to design a meal replacement shake to give the body what it needs. We need to consider what is needed for optimal health as opposed to just preventing disease. Studies have shown supplements to change laboratory values and affect disease. Vitamin D in Covid was a prime example. Now, we also have to consider what each individual needs. Do you need adaptogenic support for the stressful life and adrenal support? Do you need nootropics to enhance and support brain function? The goal is to make the body and metabolism run efficiently.
  4. Hormone Awareness. This is a critical area of need. Everyone will suffer decline in their hormones with age, with the exception of cortisol (it rises). Knowing your own hormone levels and discussing options with a qualified physician can improve quality life, prevent cardiovascular disease, diabetes, bone fracture, dementia and certain cancers. Dr. Farris recommends every that man and woman over the age of 40 have their hormones checked.
  5. Stress Reduction. This is a huge area that is often overlooked. We live in the most stressed out country in the world. This can lead to poor mental and physical health. Daily meditation, breath work, HRV, prayer, quiet time can have a huge impact. We ask patients to decrease time on their electronic devices. We tell patients to “forest bathe” or ground in nature. This is simply a quiet walk in nature without a cellphone. Daily grounding for just 10 minutes can yield big results.
  6. Sleep. This is critical for the body and brain to repair itself. Sleep deprivation in any form contributes to poor health. Go to bed early and get up early. We need to return to normal circadian rhythms. As you start to move, supplement your nutrition and practice grounding, your sleep will also improve.
  7. Detoxification. Put simply, this is hydration, sweating, urinating, eliminating and being aware of what you’re putting in your body. The body is exposed to toxins every day and it is important to reduce our toxic load. Saunas, red light therapy, juicing, daily matcha and stimulating the vagus nerve can open pathways in your body to improve detoxification.
